Anxiety is so prevalent in our culture these days. Simple anxiety is worrying about an event in the near future. Significant anxiety is feeling a sense of impending doom in the background of your life. And extreme anxiety is experiencing panic attacks and not being able to function regularly in life. Often the cause of these is hard to determine and I can help you with that. Severe anxiety may come from some source of trauma in your past. EMDR works well for this.
Depression is another feeling and symptom prevalent in our society today. There are different types of depression: grieving the loss of a loved one, loss of a job or home, a natural disaster. Then there is the sad feeling in the background of your life, not able to experience joy much. There's also chronic depression and bipolar (having an extreme mood of energy, insomnia and happiness followed by a severe depressive state.) Each of these can be helped by psychotherapy. I can help you with figuring out your depression and what can be done about it. I do not prescribe medication and am not a doctor but can refer you if you need that. New research has come across better ways to treat this and I am happy to discuss these with you. Mindfulness Meditation is one of those.
